Trillium

All about Trilliums

Trilliums grow worldwide as part of the lily family, thriving in forests under partial shade. Blooming early in spring, they appear in white, yellow, pink, and burgundy. Some release scents that attract flies and beetles for pollination, while others rely on bees and wasps.

Beyond their beauty, trilliums hold deep symbolism. Their three-petaled symmetry represents renewal, balance, and connection to the earth. Native Americans saw them as protective and used them medicinally. Their common name is birthwort or Indian balm. The trillium's unique structure, consisting of three petals, three leaves, and three sepals, has also been used to symbolize various religious trinities.
